Screening of LUMO: A Young Woman's Story to Heal From Rape in Congo

Things have been busy here at Pinksilver! We are preparing for a charity event in the Sanctum Soho Hotel on 24th March in conjuction with the Tatiana Giraud Foundation: helping rape victims in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We will be there watching the screening of LUMO: A Young Woman’s Story To Heal From Rape in Congo.

Date: Wednesday, 24 March 2010
Location: Sanctum Soho Hotel, Private Cinema
Street: 20 Warwick Street
Time: 18:30 - 21:30

This event is being held to raise awareness for women in the Congo who have suffered the most horrific sexual and human rights abuses. The evening will start at 6.30pm with an introduction by Tatiana Giraud from The Tatiana Giraud Foundation about the cause she so fervently supports and champions. This introduction will be followed by the screening of the documentary LUMO: A young Woman's Story to Heal From Rape in Congo. This is an insightful, thought provoking and extremely touching documentary about the plight of one woman from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

20-year old Lumo Sinai had everything to look forward to in life, until the day that she was brutally raped. She was left suffering from a condition called fistula that rendered her incontinent and turned her into a social outcast within her community.

LUMO follows the story of this brave young woman, as she faces the challenge of recovery with remarkable courage, grace and good humour.

The evening will include drinks, canapés and a raffle draw. Prizes will include:
• £100 voucher for a holiday with Flight Centre
• 1-hour Dermalogica Facial Voucher with Beauty Essence, Mayfair
• A bottle of 1996 Tattinger and many other beautiful gifts from our generous sponsors

In addition, Pinksilver will be there on the night, with 10% of all proceeds being donated to the Trust. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with Tamara Kinja who carried out an internship at the renowned Panzi Hospital in Bukavu.

This promises to be a very enjoyable and informative evening and we look forward to seeing you on the night!

Once again it's at:

Sanctum Soho Hotel,
Private Cinema, Lower Ground floor
20 Warwick Street
Soho, London W1B 5NF

on 24th March and starts at 6.30pm!

Warning: This is an incredibly moving and, in parts, graphic film.

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

London has officially come to a complete standstill! But we believe that snow in abundance is a much better excuse than swine flu not to go to work! We've been watching adults turn into big kids again: throwing snowballs at strangers and making all sorts of weird and wonderful shapes in the snow. For those who are grumbling about it- well try and see it as a break from the greyness.
Here at Pinksilver HQ we've been working away finishing off orders in the warmth, and that is what we should all be truly grateful for!

Love,

Pinksilver People xx
