Fireworks and Late Night Thursday- in association with The Guide

Firework festivity! (Pictures taken by Daisy in Battersea Park)

We are now barrelling through November, straight into the icy clutches of December in all its (hopefully) snowy wonder! Pinksilver celebrated the Night of the Bonfire with the amazing fireworks display in Battersea Park, complete with a scarily huge bonfire, sparklers and awesome pyrotechnics (although the 'Romance' theme rather divided the crowd with half becoming nauseatingly coupley and loved-up and the other half just nauseated). However, this didn't dampen the festive cheer that emanated from the bobble-hatted audience who were filled with goodwill and love for all mankind. Well, we were anyway..
To be honest, I think some people were just cold.

At the height of the fireworks!

But it definitely put us in a Christmassy mood, which means we are officially counting down (6 weeks, 2 days). And to help with the all important, all consuming, soul destroying job that is Christmas shopping, we are going to be joining other Greenwich shops by having a late night shopping event tomorrow in association with The Guide- where locals and tourists alike can benefit from a 10% discount at Pinksilver- just because! :)
But we won't stop there! Now every Thursday until Christmas we will be open until 8pm so you can buy a special gift for yourself or a loved one.

Much love,

AND SO IT BEGINS...........

Well, we are now definitely moving towards winter; it is now not only awkward taking the grills off and on the front of the shop, but also painfully cold. We have also recoiled in horror at the arrival of the Christmas adverts – DFS: Mariah in October? You should be ashamed of yourselves.
However, with Christmas Day hurtling towards us (9 weeks today) perhaps it is a good idea to start on the shopping. As far as shopping at Pinksilver is concerned, we suggest that you buy sooner rather than later to avoid any disappointment – we are expecting to be swamped with orders, and once something’s gone, there’s no guarantee it will be restocked.
And you now have some new ranges to choose from! We have just added a set of necklaces and earrings with abalone, which is a beautiful mother-of-pearl decorative shell derived from, er.........sea-snails. But it’s very pretty. And we have also begun making the Ivy range with some new stones, so definitely check those out (the bright pink is perfect for girly girls). And not forgetting the wonderfully quirky range of cutlery jewellery supplied by our good pal Nick!
On a less joyful note, after believing that we were once and for all rid of the dreaded gas works, we awoke the other morning to find A BRAND NEW HOLE IN THE ROAD. And while we appreciate that this is to ensure that we don’t blow up, it is nonetheless a bit of a nuisance. But hey ho – what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger, etc., etc. Unless you fall down the big hole. Which is a real danger with the less co-ordinated members of The Pinksilver People.
We also want to give some serious props to the incredible Emma who is helping us out this weekend. Emma, who recently received a Nobel Peace Prize, is hailed as having invented the wheel, music and the lazy susan, and was at one time romantically linked to John Cusack will be in the shop – so come and pay her a visit, bring her food, gifts, whatever you feel appropriate.
This weekend is also celebration time in the Pinksilver People family tree – we want to wish our awesome sister/cousin Amy a killer 22nd!! Penblwydd Hapus, cariad!! (Greenwich is ANXIOUSLY looking forward to a visit from another Welshie before too long).

Have a lovely weekend,

Not only Uri Geller can bend spoons!

During a recession one must make-do, reinvent and get creative! Introducing our brand spanking new (yet also 100 years old) 'Posh and Recycled' range.

My wonderful friend Nick 'Forks' has handcrafted the most amazing jewellery from the most exquisite antique sterling silverware especially for Pinksilver! Each piece has a story, is uniquely beautiful and alluring.

Most of the silverware dates back to the time of Queen Victoria and Edward VII. The hallmarks are stamped on the pieces proving their moment in history and authenticity. Once again, each piece is a complete one-off! And in Nick's own words: 'This is probably the best stuff I've ever done'.

These are all fun and absolutely gorgeous sterling silver pieces, all antique silverware in their former lives, they have now been transformed into incredibly fun and quirky pieces of jewellery.
Enjoy!

Dinosaurs, Witches and 'RPattz'....

Well, we are now preparing for our THIRD week in the shop, and I'm extremely pleased to report that business has been going brilliantly; despite the road outside the shop dimly resembling the 'earth shake' from the Land Before Time.

We have also been very excited by the positive feedback from the customers coming into the shop - apart from the occasional put-out member of Greenwich's canine population looking for a snazzy new coat (apologies).

Us Pinksilver girls are also waiting patiently for something very important to occur at the shop.......................our first famous customer.

Arguably an exceedingly shallow seeming goal, it is nonetheless still a much awaited one, and was almost (although not really) fulfilled the other day, when I was pretty much convinced that Robert Pattinson walked past the shop. After several minutes of jumping around like an idiot and desperately trying to call everyone and anyone to relate the BIGGEST NEWS OF THE CENTURY it occured to me that, in fact, I wasn't actually 100% sure it was 'RPattz', and then that, I hadn't even got a good look at his face. And then that it was quite possible that it was merely an illusion created by a guy with his hood up and extremely wishful thinking.

So...........no real news then!

Will keep posted on the slightly pointless, but kinda addictive 'Celeb Watch.'

And now, to uphold the spiritual balance of the world, we will have 'Philosophical Quote of the Day': "Even when laws have been written down, they ought not always to remain unaltered." - Aristotle.

There, even a bit of politics slipped in there as well.

And now as we approach the winter months, where venturing out of doors only looks attractive when coupled with arctic-proof thermals, and where rain reminiscent of Noah's floods is the default weather - we at Pinksilver are brainstorming to get you pulling on the mittens and visiting us. With Halloween approaching, the (supposedly) mature and 'dignified' Pinksilver People have begun to regress into a childlike state of near hysteria at the prospect of dressing-up, pumpkins and sweets. And yes, we WILL be dressing-up.

Current work on decorations for All Hallows Eve include a lovingly hadcrafted cardboard witch and a.............palm tree? (Sometimes the creative juices go into overload). I'm contemplating having a Twitter/Facebook vote on what my Halloween costume should be - although this could possibly have disastrous results............

I shall update further in the next few days, and, er...if someone happens to bump into Rob - point him in the direction of the shop? Would be much appreciated.

Our first week in the shop!

Wow, it's been a busy day in the market and at the shop! Well done Emily and Georgia for working your socks off, despite all the rubble outside the shop due to gas works!

Thank you to the consciencious customer who alerted us to the smell of gas on Thursday afternoon! That's the lovely Greenwich community spirit in action- which averted disaster! Georgia and I have been so busy these last two weeks we probably would never have noticed!
In fact earlier that day I was talking about lighting candles in the shop for Christmas!!

On Thursday night I was up until 5am letting Transco into the shop every hour checking the gas levels while watching them drill holes outside the shop and all along Creek Road. The gas problem runs the breadth of Creek Road apparently. Unfortunately, they had to break into the neighbouring shops and businesses to release the gas build up along the road. Lights were flashing, alarms were going off, what a palava! (excuse the pun..)

But it was all for a good cause! Greenwich didn't blow up that night and I ended up making endless cups of tea for lots of men in uniform!
It could have been worse!
